Learn how to use traits, manage memory, write unsafe code, handle concurrency, and build advanced web applications in Rust.
Rust’s compiler guarantees memory safety and thread safety, but getting your code to compile once you move past the basics can be notoriously frustrating. This course is a deep dive into advanced Rust mechanics, starting with the type system. You will explore Traits, Associated Types, Trait Bounds, and the Newtype Pattern before tackling complex memory management head-on. We go beyond basic ownership to examine smart pointers like Box, Rc, and RefCell, combining Rc and RefCell, managing multi-threaded memory, and mastering Lifetimes on both types and traits. From there, we will step outside the compiler’s safety net into Unsafe Rust, learning how to dereference Raw Pointers, write Unsafe Functions, and pass data across language boundaries using FFI, alongside a look at Macros.
With the core mechanics established, the course shifts heavily into concurrency. You will start with Closures and the Move keyword before spawning CPU threads and building fan-out and fan-in architectures using Channels. We then transition into Async Rust, covering Async Channels, shared state, and racing threads. Finally, you will apply these concepts to advanced web development. You will build Custom Middlewares, manage Lazy Databases with Arc, and handle error propagation using the Anyhow crate. The course wraps up by implementing JSON Web Tokens, broadcasting messages over Websockets, and packaging your application for production using Healthchecks, Docker, Release Profiles, and Workspace Management.
