Build validated pipeline functions and local script modules that preview, reconcile, and repeat virtual file changes safely.
Advanced PowerShell scripting depends on contracts that remain useful when input is empty, invalid, repeated, or supplied through a pipeline. This hands-on course gives you sixteen browser exercises that build those contracts and test their observable behavior. You will add parameter validation to cmdlet-style functions, recover from rejected helper calls, and choose how pipeline values bind to parameters. You will use begin, process, and end to maintain aggregation state and compose functions without mixing diagnostics into their results.
The file exercises focus on deciding when a change is safe to commit. You will stage candidate content, preserve existing state after failed transformations, restore temporary settings, preview changes with WhatIf, and distinguish a successful update from an unchanged result. Local script modules add explicit loading, public exports, isolated state, and deliberate reload behavior. A final reconciliation module combines these decisions.
The exercises use Dometrain’s bounded PowerShell teaching interpreter and virtual files confined to the browser workspace. They require the beginner course and the complete intermediate scripting material, including typed parameters, record pipelines, lookup tables, CSV, helper scripts, scope, and exception handling. The course focuses on reusable scripting behavior within that environment.
